March comes in like a lion—for the real estate market!

Spring is the season of increased home listings and renewed buyer interest. If you’re ready to put your home on the market, you’ve picked a great time! But in order to compete with other home sellers, it’s important for your home to look as clean and fresh as the spring mountain air.

As we like to say, there’s never a second chance for a first impression. Make the most of the season with these four fresh and easy spring staging tips that are sure to attract buyers.

Spring Staging Tips:

1. Hide the Winter

Regardless of meteorological verdict, the grayest days of winter are behind us! Celebrate the warmth of the season by bringing out the bright colors. Tuck away the heavy, flannel comforters and bring in the spring with light, crisp, and colorful linens. Don’t forget floral-designed accent pillows for added style and comfort.

Next, declutter, declutter, declutter. Move your bulky winter things out of your closet, as well. After all, you won’t need them until next season at your own new home. You’ll clear your closets and impress buyers with all that perceived extra space.

2. Start Your Spring Cleaning

It’s natural to want to spruce up your space in the spring—so, scrub away! Remove your winter boot grime by scrubbing and buffing the floors. Vacuum and dust the corners of your home, and clean out the fireplace. Clear off tables and counters (even of your regularly used small appliances like toaster ovens and coffee pots). Instead, decorate the counter with a simple vase of fresh flowers, a bowl of fruit, or even seasonal herbs or vegetables.

Take care of any outstanding home repairs, while you’re at it. And don’t forget to shine the windows! A sparkling home will impress buyers and make your home seem even more appealing.

3. Show off Your Green Thumb

Did you know that 38% of home buyers drive by a home without requesting a walk through? This spring, get your yard in shape as quickly as possible to attract the drive-by buyers.

Clear winter debris from your yard and roof. Bring life to your landscaping with frost-resistant plants that won’t be affected if a late cold spell hits. Look for plants that add a pop of color, if you can. If you don’t have the time or resources for planting, even adding a few potted plants to the entryway can make a big difference. Invest in a professional landscaper to keep the yard in shape if you plan to be away from the property.

4. Welcome Potential Buyers

A clean, pretty doorway will help set the tone for your entire showing. Take down your winter wreath and put up a spring-themed door sign instead. If your welcome mat is covered with winter dirt, clean it or purchase a new one. Place an umbrella stand by the door to catch people coming in from spring showers. And to take your efforts a step further, repaint the front door for a fresh, clean look.

Spring is a season of scents as much as sights. Bring spring indoors with light floral aromas that enhance the mood. If you can’t invest in fresh flowers, consider lightly scented candles or diffusers that capture the essence of spring.

Lastly, pull back the curtains and drapes, raise the blinds, and let in the spring sunshine. By now, your home should say, “Welcome buyers!”
